The Problem

The Digestive and Liver Center of Florida is a specialty gastroenterology and hepatology practice. Like most practices of its size, its clinical history lived across an EHR, scanned documents, lab feeds and referral letters. The information existed — it just could not be read quickly enough to be useful inside a fifteen-minute appointment.

Features

  • Unified Patient Record: Records, labs, procedures and correspondence pulled into one timeline per patient, rather than one tab per source system.
  • Clinical Search: Free-text search across a patient's history, so a provider can find the last colonoscopy or a prior lab trend without leaving the encounter.
  • Document Intelligence: Automated extraction from scanned and faxed documents, structuring what was previously an unsearchable PDF pile.
  • Patient Portal Continuity: Appointment scheduling and patient-facing access kept consistent with the practice's existing web presence.

Our Role

We led product design and development end to end:

  • Shadowing the practice's clinical workflow to establish what actually needed to surface at the point of care.
  • Designing an interface that a provider can operate mid-consultation, not one that demands a separate admin session.
  • Building the extraction and indexing pipeline that makes historical records searchable.
  • Implementing the application with access controls and audit trails appropriate to protected health information.

Outcome

Cliniqa gives the practice's providers a single place to understand a patient before they walk into the room. The chart review that previously meant opening several systems now resolves in one screen, and the structured record built underneath it gives the practice a foundation for future clinical reporting.
