Case Study

Navigating NEET counselling with confidence.

MedicosAdda helps NEET aspirants choose a medical college with evidence rather than rumour. It is built on raw data extracted from the counselling authorities of 30 states and the All India quota, normalised into one comparable dataset.

The Problem

NEET counselling is decided by data that is technically public and practically unusable. Every state runs its own counselling authority, publishes in its own format — PDFs, scanned tables, notices that supersede earlier notices — and revises through the season. A candidate deciding where to apply is working from screenshots forwarded on WhatsApp.

The Data Layer

The product only works if the underlying dataset is trustworthy, so that is where the engineering went:

  • 30 states and All India: Raw extraction from every state counselling authority plus the All India quota, rather than a single convenient source.
  • Normalisation: College names, course codes, categories and quota types reconciled across authorities that each spell them differently.
  • Round-wise cutoffs: Closing ranks captured per round, per quota and per category — the level at which the decision is actually made.
  • Revision handling: Later notices reconciled against earlier ones, so a superseded cutoff does not sit in the dataset looking current.

Features

  • College Discovery: Search and compare colleges on the attributes that matter — quota, category, fees and historical closing rank.
  • Announcements Feed: Official NTA, MCC and state-authority notices surfaced in one timeline, dated, so nothing is missed mid-season.
  • Rank Context: A candidate's rank read against prior-year cutoffs to frame a realistic list rather than an aspirational one.
  • Subscriptions: Tiered access built into the product for the practice to run as a business.

Our Role

We built MedicosAdda across the full stack — the extraction pipeline, the data model, the application and the interface. The hardest part was not the frontend; it was making thirty-one independent publishing formats agree with each other well enough to be compared on one screen.

Outcome

MedicosAdda turns counselling season from a scramble across state websites into a single searchable view. Because the dataset is rebuilt from primary sources each season, the guidance the platform gives is grounded in what the authorities actually published — not in what circulated.
